If an hourly employee (in NC) resigns the position by giving a written notice with a time expectation included- say 2 weeks-- what happens if the employer, upon accepting the resignation, asks the employee to leave immediately? Is the employee entitled to pay through the notice?

Thanks!

No state requires payout of notice period if the employer decides to accept the resignation immediately. By law, they are only required to pay you through your last day (or hour) worked.
