I have a question regarding the VA Employment Laws regarding Paid Time Off (vacation time). I am a FT salaried employee and we get 13 PTO days per year. My supervisor/branch manager has made an executive decision to not allow anyone more than 7 business days off at one time, unless there is an extreme situation. Is this legal?
My family went to Hawaii for our last vacation; however we had to cut it short due to my job would not allow me 2 full weeks off. I feel this is not fair. We should be allowed to use our vacation days as we see fit. I even requested to take the additional 3 days off without pay of asked if I could use sick time; however I was denied.
Is this legal for my supervisor to limit my time off?
I emailed our corporate office and received a confidential reply regarding our companies polilcy. It states that our supervisor approves PTO based on our office needs; however the VA State Employment Laws override the company policy.
Please advise.
