I already work an average of 9 hours a day M-F. My question is: Can a manager insist that an exempt employee work longer days and Saturdays when the normal work hours are 8-5? I was under the impression that in Oregon an exempt worker got paid for a day in which they worked any measurable portion of that day. I also thought an employer in Oregon could only discuss a person's performance and not the hours they work, as long as the normal hours were adhered to. During the conversation it was said that other managers thought a person making my salary should work longer days and Saturdays. An that a person making less could do the work as well as I can. These statements are stressful to me and I would like to know if, by law, my manager should be using these phrases.

That's not quite right. Federal law says that if an exempt employee works any portion of the day, they have to be paid for that day. However, that does NOT mean that you cannot be asked to work additional hours. Your employer is at liberty to require as many hours as are needed, including Saturdays.

I also thought an employer in Oregon could only discuss a person's performance and not the hours they work, as long as the normal hours were adhered to.

No such law exists in Oregon or any other state.

Nothing in the law prohibits him from saying anything you have described.

Nothing in your post suggests that your employer has violated any laws.

Can a manager insist that an exempt employee work longer days and Saturdays when the normal work hours are 8-5? Yes. Same answer for a non-exempt employee.

I was under the impression that in Oregon an exempt worker got paid for a day in which they worked any measurable portion of that day. That is true but you don't have to be paid extra for working on a Saturday.

I also thought an employer in Oregon could only discuss a person's performance and not the hours they work, as long as the normal hours were adhered to. I can't imagine how you formed that impression but it is incorrect.

During the conversation it was said that other managers thought a person making my salary should work longer days and Saturdays. An that a person making less could do the work as well as I can. These statements are stressful to me and I would like to know if, by law, my manager should be using these phrases. There is nothing whatsoever unlawful about what was said.
