my husband was hurt on the job and waited 5 months before finally they (work comp) approved a surgery date. he had the surgery (neck) and then the following friday he passed :( .the death is still pending. he was only 40 and we have a 3yr old son and he has a 14yr old from a previous. now what happens with the comp case? and how long does it usually take to settle now that i presume it has ended? we are drowning in piled up bills. thanks for any info. diana

I am sorry to hear about your loss. The amount of time to process the claim will depend on the practices of the insurer (or the state, if he was in the state program).
