Hello.I live in illinois and I'm a full time front desk clerk at a hotel.Alright here's my problem. The man who owns my hotel also owns the one right next to it.Now I worked my butt off last week and had at least 25 hours of overtime. So when i get in I notice my schedule for next week. And what do you know I'm working 3 days next door.I never work over there. So this way they can pay me with 2 checks from different Properties. But its owned by the same man and I have all the same managers and they can all clearly see that I'm entitled to overtime.WHAT DOES IT MATTER THAT I'M AT A DIFFERENT BUILDING!!!!!!!I'm still working for the same people!!!!!!They think there so slick.I don't have 2 jobs I only have one.I'm SO frustrated with the whole situation. So thats my story.Thier taking advantage of me.Is it right? Legal? What should I do.PLEASE HELP ME :( Is overtime based on a one week period or 2 weeks? HELP

Thier taking advantage of me.Is it right? They're certainly trying to.

Legal? Legal to have you work for both hotels; not legal not to pay you overtime.

What should I do. You should nicely point out that common ownership means you must be paid overtime. The fact that these hotels may be incorporated separately or have their own tax ID numbers is irrelevant.

Is overtime based on a one week period or 2 weeks? One week. You must be paid time and a-half for all hours worked over 40 in each fixed 7-day payroll period. (Even if you are paid in bi-weekly or semi-monthly increments, overtime must still be calculated on a 7-calendar day basis.)

If your employer continues to refuse to pay you OT, you may contact your State's Department of Labor and file a complaint.
