i work in a grocery store as a stock boy in michigan. i am paid bi-weekly. one week i had worked 52 hours. the second week i worked 28 hours. this would put me 80 hours exactly. my boss told me that i only get paid overtime after 80 hours for the two weeks. is this legal? would i really not get any overtime, even tho one of the weeks i worked twelve more hours?

No, this is not legal. You must be paid overtime for the 12 extra hours in the first week.

Your boss would be correct if you worked in the health care field. In any other field, he's wrong. Overtime goes by the work week, not the pay period.
