In Georgia is there a law that addresses if you can leave work premises during your allotted lunchtime. My daughter works for a company that allows those that take an hour for lunch to leave the premises. But those that choose to take a 30 minute lunch (and leave 30 minutes early--all work their 8 hours) are not allowed to leave the premises during their allotted time. Any info/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If the facility is in such a remote area that it would be impractical to leave the premises, or it is unsafe to do so, the employer can require that the employee not leave the premises. However, even if not allowed to leave the premises, a meal period would still not need to be paid for unless the employee was not relieved of all duty and could not leave their workstation.

Looks like the choice is up to the employee. If they want to go out for lunch, they have to take the full hour.
