Look at the court decree and see if y ou have visitation rights and if you do, exercise the visitation rights and go see your children and talk to them and see if the situation is such where emancipation is possible and see if they would be willing to form a relationship with their siblings.

You do have a right to see your children. Take it as slow as they want and need. Try really hard not to say anything bad about their Mother. You don't sound vindictiveso I don't think that will be a problem with you. I have a learning disabled son. Do you qualify for SSI? Have you checked into that. If your child is very disabled then you could very well qualify. It is on a sliding scale according to your income. Also it may take up to 6 months to finally start getting money, but it goes back to when you first applied. If they don't say the child qualify's and you think he or she is then have them go back and review it. My son was so disabled that he qualified the first time with no problems. I really think it is good that siblings even half siblings get to know each other. I just thought of this but tell the kids you are sorry that you did not see them over the years. Put yourself in their shoes as to how to proceed and what to say. Good luck!
