I was laid off after 4yrs working for the same company. The company hired me in Miami, transfered me to Atlanta and then to Charlotte.
I have not taken vacations during all this time.
I showed up one day and was told that my services were no longer needed, and that I will be receiving a 2 week pay. No letter no nothing, only a verbal notification. The company was doing massive lay off, and I as management was doing the restructuring of my department but me I was never informed I was going to be part of the personnel to be let go. I contacted the CEO and told him that I would like to receive at least my pay vacation pay for those 4 years and still have received no response.
What can I do?

South Carolina only requires employers to pay out vacation upon termination if the employer has a policy of doing so, so this is entirely up to your employer.

I suggest you file for unemployment benefits and start looking for a new job. Your employer has not done anything illegal. Good luck.

Oops. You're in North Carolina. If so, then that's different. North Carolina requires that vacation be paid out upon termination unless the employees have been notified in advance in writing or by posted notice of any company policy regarding the loss or forfeiture of vacation upon separation.

If you are entitled to be paid for your vacation, then whether you are entitled to be paid for four years' worth is up to your employer's policies and whether they allow employees to carry over unused vacation from year to year or whether unused vacation is forfeited at the end of each employee's anniversary or calendar year.

Don't get carried away with the lawyer. Contact the state Dept. of Labor first to file a claim for unpaid vacation pay at termination.
