Hey I unfortunately work in fast food in MS.
MY boss has a bad temper and is kinda scaring the teenagers. Alot of crew leaders have left because of this.

He gave me a dollar raise last week, so I am getting paid well for that line of work. Also I put in for a crew leader postion in FEB. and he is probably hiring some Mexicans in for that. He sucks.

Last year, he had us sign a paper stating that we would give a 2 week notice, or loose our current pay rate and be knocked down to min. wage. That is in the event of us quitting!!!!! We are not on a salary, nor have any benefits. So is this piece of paper legal????????????????

I'm ready to leave this job and I seriously feel like he will jerk me around if I do give a notice. He has a history of "NOT" being in the office to issue checks if someone has quit. RETALIATION BIG TIME!!!!!!!

So is this piece of paper legal???????????????? Yes, because you are being advised in advance of the reduction in wages.

He has a history of "NOT" being in the office to issue checks if someone has quit. RETALIATION BIG TIME!!!!!!! That is not a form prohibited retaliation.

I tried to find information at MS's Department of Labor website when final wages are due but discovered trying to locate any wage and hour laws at that site to be impossible. If you resign and have a difficult time getting your final paycheck, give them a call.

Thanks Beth, I guess he got me and a few others by a legal loophole.

I found a number to dept. of labor, before I checked back here , and he said the same thing :( He said to checj ms dol but I bet there's no statute there either...

Mississippi is one of the few states that has no statute regarding final pay.
