I am trying to locate my daughters natural father. I Recently got married to a wonderful man who would very much like to adopt my daugher. He has been a father to her since she was 4 years old. Her real father has not seen her since she was 1-1/2 years old. With that said, I need to contact he natural father in order to proceed with the adoption. I have tried going through my local support office to get information on Mr. Stine and had no luck. His last know address was Bowling Green, KY. Can you give me any ideas on how to locate him without having to pay for a private investigator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact a lawyer and they will give you the specifics. You likely will have to start with sending a certified letter to the last known address (ALWAYS best coming from an attorney as it could be the filing notice and emotions are left out) and then if that produces no results then a notice in a newspaper could be sufficient. Adoption with a lawyer is almost a necessity as this is not something you do not want all i's dotted and t's crossed.

I also suggest that you look up the state court rules for service of process as there is usually a provision for notice by publication that you may be able to use to try to locate him in the last known community of his residence; you will have to be able to prove to the court that you complied with statute but this should be a way to resolve the notice requirements and service requirements if you cannot locate him after diligently searching
