I am a non-exempt employee in an insurance office in CO. I recently was told to travel to our NM office and train some employees on a process. I was gone for two days (Mon & Tue), the first day was 9 hours including travel time, and the second day was 13.5 hrs. including travel time. I worked the rest of the week as usuall (8 hr days). I am being told now that the time spent traveling is not only not paid as overtime, but is not going to be compensated at all. Is this permissable? Shouldn't I be paid for the extra time?

Here is link to the CO DOL resouce guide to employment law. click here (http://www.coworkforce.com/lab/AB.pdf)

The info your looking for is easy to find within it. It basically says that if your travelling under the contol or direction of your employer than it is time to be compensated.
