I was injured at work when another employee committed a safety violation and used a tool improperly which resulted in my injury. I went to the doctor today and he said I need to be off 2 more days and come in for a checkup before I return to work.

Does the company have to pay for the time I have missed, I didn't break any safety violation? or is it automatically up to the workers compensation insurance, I know I need to be out longer than 2 1/2 days for me to get my lost time.

I just want to work, was injured from something that was not my fault, and now I'm missing out on $$ when I could be working? I work for a good company I just want to know what my rights are...

Help...

Your State's Worker's Comp regulations dictate when payment for lost time due to an occupational injury must begin. That varies from State to State but it's typically somewhere between 3 days of lost time (including Saturday) and up to 7 days. Your employer has no obligation to pay you any wages if you are unable to collect lost time benefits due to the waiting period your State imposes.
