I am interested in any reports or study of the tendency of business management to impose "volunteer" work on exempt employees.

An example of this practice is Bank of America's "Adopt an ATM" program as described here (http://www.bankofamerica.com/newsroom/press/press.cfm?PressID=press.20000126.01.htm&LOBID=9).

Thanks for helping!

This is a research project with an audience that includes academic and business people.

Thanks!

It does not sound like Bank of America's program is a policy that requires any employees to report information. They could make a policy requiring exempt workers to report such information as a part of their job however I don't know how they could possibly enforce it. They defiently can not even ask nonexempt employees to report such information unless they are ready and willing to pay them for time used to report in.
