I am wondering if I should be working with the gas stations insurance representative or hire a lawyer to handle any claims. I have been out of work for 5 days, accumulated hospital bills, perscriptions, MRI and exrays, along with physical therapy. The costs are mounting and I need to return to work.

You could get an attorney to represent you and tell the gas station insurance rep that due to your injuries you need to focus on your health and recovery, and needed another party to handle the details and settlements. Given your health state, it does not sound like you are the best person to represent you right now, but you need to be careful and get an attorney thtat you can trust to represent your interests well. Be careful. Maybe contact a bar association referral service also to get referred an attorney.
