Hi. I was employed by a school/tutoring place in pa. I quit for quite a few reasons. I was told that even though I quit the 2nd week in Sept., I will not be receiving my paycheck until at least Oct. 30, maybe later. My ex-boss said she submitted the invoices to the school districts she gets paid from and it will take her that long to get the money from them and get payroll processed and mailed out. Is this legal? I am in desperate need for this money and I need help.

The fact that the employer doesn't have the revenue from your work does not relieve them of the obligation to pay you according to the time frame mandated by law, which in Pennsylvania is the next regularly schedule pay day. Contact the state Dept. of Labor and file a claim for unpaid wages.

Thanks for your input. It didn't make sense to me that she didn't have the money to pay her people right away. Most of her employees are women who work there 1 day a week for extra cash and are full time moms. They have addtional incomes. I don't. It's one of the reasons I left.
