I was involuntary mandatory transferred to another office due to my whistle blowing of illegal activities in my office. I work for the State of California. Management packed up my desk and put them into 4 big boxes as they would not let me pack my own things. They took all my boxed personal stuff all over the county until finally it was delivered to the office where I am at. Because of them packing my stuff, I am missing personel item including my certificates, acknowledgement letter etc. Now it turns out that management had to take my boxes back to the office where they originally came from as because of them pushing me out, I have excepted another job offer, so they have to to bring my boxes back to my original office so that I may pick them up before I start this new job. I still work for this Dept. until Monday. Management told me that I can go to my original office to see if any of my stuff remain. I found only 1 thing and the other stuff are still missing. While I was there in the office, management from another office was following me around the office and even greeted me at the door as if to intimidate me. It was so embarrassing as I felt like an inmate being escorted by prison guards. I was even show out the door when I left. This could have all been avoided if I was allowed to pack my own things and my personal stuff would not be missing. it was as if they have been setting me up for this all along. Other people who transfer, is not treated this way. Is this an invasion of my civil rights and is this unfair and illegal?

I know it is very common when a employee is fired that managment packs their stuff up and ships it to them. That's how its done in my office. I think it has something to do with the potential of the out going person stealing company property and the like. Not that your situation not quite the same, but just some thoughts. Sorry its not much help. Hang in there.

Thanks for your feedback as I understand what you are saying, but I wasn't fired and I am still working for the same company, just at another location. I t just seems like I have been violated. They are the ones who stole from me as I am missing personal belongings. Doesn't make sense. Thanks a lot
