This is a general question concerning overtime requirements in the state of Wisconsin.
If a CAD drafter works 45-50 hours per week as part of the regular weekly schedule, are they entitled to overtime? I am referring to a salaried, non-managerial employee whose primary duties are engineering drafting and design.
I've read the information on the Wisconsin dotgov site, but I'm still unclear on a few points. When the term 'Professional' is used I believe they are referring to a legitimate professional, such as an architect or a licensed engineer, and not the more loosely applied usage of the term.
Any info?

Here is the federal criteria for a professional employee for exemption from the overtime requirements:

I think you're interpreting it a little more strictly than what is called for, but just off the top of my head, it doesn't appear that your job duties would qualify for the exemption. You can contact the federal DOL if you want a definitive answer after reading the document above.

I agree that a CAD designer position does not qualify for exempt status. I've worked with a lot of highly experienced CAD designers that were quite well paid however their jobs were clearly non-exempt.
