If your shift began at 9AM on Tuesday, and then ended at 4AM on Wednesday. Then, you started again that Wednesday at 9AM and worked until 6PM. What would be the breakdown as far as how many hours are at the regular pay rate, how many hours would be at time and a half, and how many hours would be at double time. Any help would be great along with an explanation. Thanks.

By the way, the work week starts at 12AM on Sunday and ends at 11:59PM on Saturday.

Now, this is what I mean by "workweek".
Tuesday, 9 am to Midnight 21 hours (assuming you received the two required meal breaks of at least 30 minutes) = 20 hours worked. 8 straight-time, 4 1.5 time, 8 double time
Wednesday, Midnight to 4 a.m. and 9 am to 6 pm (again, assuming one meal break of 30 minutes) = 12.5 hours worked. 8 straight-time, 4 1.5 time, .5 double time.

Thanks! Was there ever a time in which a certain number of hours between shifts was required?

It's ringing a bell from WAY back, but I think it used to be two hours, if it was a split shift, otherwise, the employer had to pay one hour of "penalty" time.
However, since this is two shifts for you (not a split shift), I would recommend calling the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. I could not locate anything on the web site, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And even if it might exist, there could also be exceptions based upon the kind of work performed and in what type of company.
