Just wondered if anyone can help me with this:
I have been on maternity leave for 10 weeks now and I am scheduled to return to work next week. I plan to put my notice in when I get back, as my husband and I have decide that we want me to be a stay at home mom. I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom but we weren't sure it could happen until just recently. To make a long story short my husband lost his job a few weeks before our daughter was born so there wasn't any chance I would be able to stay home at that time. Within my maternity leave my husband found a wonderful job that will put us in a position that I don't have to work. So we have made the decision that I will stay home.
The question I have is can they ask me to pay back the maternity leave pay that they have given me if I put in my notice when I go back? I live in Kansas and know that the laws are different everywhere so I'm not sure. Also the other issue I am coming across is Day Care. I cannot find a day care to watch my baby for only a few days. I have family that can watch her 5 out of the 10 days of my 2 week notice but cannot get a day care to take her for a short period. If I only work 5 out of my 10 days of notice will they ask me to pay my maternity leave back? I know Kansas is a work at will state so wasn't sure how that would effect it.
Just let me know if anyone out there has information on this.
THANKS!
