Does oregon offer the same or anything close to it for us working mothers??? Beth3 09-26-2005, 07:08 AM Oregon has a Family Leave Act that appears to be quite similar to the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. This website will explain both requirements: http://www.boli.state.or.us/BOLI/TA/T_FAQ_Taoflaqa.shtml In short, both laws require that an employer extend up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. (The primary difference is that the Oregon leave law applies to employers with 25 employees while the federal only applies to employers with 50 or more employees.) If an employer offers a disability insurance benefit (as many employers do), then the mom-to-be would be eligible for disability benefits through the employer's policy for the period of time she is medically disabled from working. angela1978 10-03-2005, 04:42 PM That still doesnt answer my question... i want to know if oregon offers any kind of money to help with bills and finacial needs. When i was in california I got paid for 4 weeks before the due date of my baby and 6 weeks after the due date but then they dont offer any more then that. DOES OREGON HAVE THEM SAME PLANS?? I think it might have been through short term disablity but im not exactly sure where i was able to receive the tiny bit of money all i know is that it helped OUT ALOT! cbg 10-03-2005, 06:24 PM No, Oregon does not have a state-mandated disability plan. In fact, CA is the ONLY state that provides paid family leave and one of only five states that has a state disability plan. Unless your employer offers any kind of paid disability leave, which they are not required by law to do, you will have to take the leave unpaid. |
