My company's benefits offer employees "sick/personal" paid time off. My question is:
Can the company "qualify" this request for time off?
The company policy states:
"Full time employees are eligible for 6 days of absence limited to the care of personal medical, family, or financial matters."

If you request for "personal" paid time off can the company ask or inquire what the time off is being used for?

Can the company make judgment on what the personal time off is being used for, and then make a decision on whether or not to pay the employee for the time?

Since the employer is not required by law to offer any vacation, sick, or personal time off benefits, it is not illegal for them to ask you what you will be using the time for and, if they do not like the answer, not to pay you for the absence.
