Hello from Iowa.
A few months back I became head supervisor of the assisted living facility at which I am employed. The same week I was promoted, our manager was fired. In essence I was acting manager. Prior and during this time period, we had many employees quit. The optimum employee amount is 8 to run things properly, we are at 4. 2 of which refuse to fill in where needed. Forcing myself and another girl to work double shifts every day.
The company hired a new manager. I've spoken with this manager about the situation. She is refusing to properly hire employees to cover the areas needed, stating that there is no need to hire for the shifts that I and the other girl are covering, because we do it so well.
I have worked double shifts, fourteen days in a row, and have double shifts scheduled for the whole month of September with no days off.
I am exhausted, and wonder what my recourse is. I find myself in situation that I don't know how to rectify. On one hand I need time off, on the other no one else is available to work.
Thanks so much!
Brianna
P.S,
I am 19 and single. Which is the reason the other staff won't help me out.
