I know it is not the employeers duty to police I-9 documents for validity...having that said when a person that has already been offered and accepted a job then provides documents that are blatently fake documents. (ie socials with really bad computer generated print, etc...) What is an employer to do...

I want to tell them I cannot accept because I have reason to believe that it is fake and ask them to provide a different document but i know this walks a fine line with descrimination...Then again it walks a fine line of "reasonably" verifying their documents if you know they are fake.

On a side note i have seen very bad counterfeit socials with actual Drivers Licenses from the DMV in IL. I don't know how they are pulling this off. I'm from the SW and it's not as bad down there, possibly it's the new industry I'm in.

Please help, Any advise..?

You are not required to - in fact, you should not - accept documents that do not appear to be genuine. While if you were to refuse documents that appeared to be genuine or if you were to demand more than the government requires, THAT could be considered discrimination, but it's not discriminatory to refuse documents that are not genuine.

This link should provide some additional help.
