i work in fast food and we are very understaffed. i am usually scheduled to work until four pm. when four comes around i am still there for a variety of reasons usually because the next person is late or whatever. today though i got written up for leaving becasue at five o'clock they were still giving me things to do and i refused to stay when the rest of the morning people are already gone.

also since i am only 17 is it legal for them to schedule me more than six days in a week? thanks for any help.

ps i already graduated so i am exempt from the hour restrictions.

You can be disciplined or even fired for refusing to stay past your scheduled departure time. Mandatory overtime is legal. Writing you up was perfectly legal.

Since you have already graduated they can schedule you for as many days as they like. In your state there are no restrictions on high school graduates.
