The other day i went in to work just to find out that they canceled me for that night without giving me a notice whats so ever. Its a good 20 min drive to work if that makes a difference. i was wonderin if there is a law for travel time. i have heard of other places that give 4 hours of pay if u get canceled without a notice. So i was wonderin is that a law or something the company is doin to be nice? thx for ur time

Your employer legally never has to pay you for commute time, even if you didn't end up working. BTW, a 20-minute commute is nothing; consider yourself lucky.

I searched the AZ statutes and could not find anything regarding "reporting time pay", which is what you are talking about. Accordingly, it does not appear Arizona requires it, although some states do. You can call the Labor Dept. of the Industrial Commission to verify this. It seems that other employers are doing this even though they are not legally required to.

I am only aware of two states that have any kind of reporting pay requirement. There may be more, but there are only two I can confirm. I agree that Arizona is not one of them.

Hello. I had something similar happen to me. I was scheduled for a shift, brought in a dr's. note and was told if I had restrictions I would not be able to work, until those restrictions were lifted by my dr. and was told to go home. I got the second note lifting the restrictions and was told I couldn't come back to work until they talked to thier lawyers. Since I was on the schedule don't they have to pay me for at least four hours?

No, they do not. There is no Federal law and no Arizona law requiring that you receive a minimum of four hours pay.
