am a diabetic at a small co (less than 9 employees) that deals with wheelchairs. Owner/Manager continues to tease me about foods I cannot eat in front of other employees. I did confront him and called him a cruel pervert & to stop discriminating & being hurtful because I am diabetic and can't make the disease disappear. told him is perverted in his thinking because his company deals only with disabled people & many of them have also diabetes.
What should I do until I find another job as it is very upsetting to work under his direction?

If your employer was larger, the manager's behavior would be against federal and state labor law. Unfortunately, because of its size, you don't have any recourse other than to go to your manager's manager for help. If that person will not help you, you may just want to find a job at another company.

the owner & manager are the same person and a policy manual has never been issued. So you are saying small companies do not have to follow the same laws as large companies even though the company receives substantial amounts of payments monthly from Louisiana Medicare, Medicaid, LA Blue Cross, Humana and so on.

Yes, especially with anti-discrimination provisions. You can read about covered employers at: www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov) (for federal laws) and http://www.gov.state.la.us/depts/lchr.htm (for Louisiana anti-discrimination laws).
