I am a telecommuting employee who lives in Maryland and works for an employer in Michigan. The company does not allow employees to carry over unused vacation days form year to year. I was told that this policy may not be legal according to some state labor laws. I have heard from another employee who telecommutes from California and works for the same Michigan company, that he is allowed to carry over unused vacation days from one year to the next. Would anyone know if Maryland has a similar law or if vacation carry-over time is left up to the discretion of the employer in this case?

Thanks for your help.

Although that is the law in California, Maryland does not have a similar law. Use-it-or-lose-it policies are legal in Maryland.
