I need the name of an attorney to help me file a lawsuit against my abuser, the court could only award me so much and I have sustained some serious injures that are permanent. I am having a hard time getting an attorney. Most of them are willing to represnet the abuser but not the victim. I also need the name of a collections attorney. I already have civil judments against him for some of minor thefts and assaults but he keeps moving his money around. Please help!!!! Battered by a man of GOD!!!

Contact the Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence within your state and ask if they offer the Criminal Injury Compensation Fund. That is a fund that is paid by offenders through fees and court costs and usually goes to help victims recoup their losses. I am not sure if all states has this or not, but most of them do. You can also contact your local District Attorney's office and ask for the Victim Witness Coordinator. They should also be able to assist you in recouping for your losses. Good Luck to you.

Thanks for the information Bobbi, I have already received money from Victim's witness for my safety, I was told that they could only give me the maximum amount of $10,000 for my injuries and the judge ordered the restituion of that amount and that is why the victims witness won't pay anymore and that is why they recommend I contact an attorney so the maximum has been awarded. This happened in Sacramento County California. What type of an attorney would I need? Civil or personal injury?
