Over six years ago I was a Supervisor in a steel fabrication plant.
The person that programmed the equipment had just turned in his two week notice. The Plant manager called me and a young machine operator together.
He asked the young man (25) which job he wanted Supervisor or Programmer.

I had never aware that my performance as Supervisor was less than expected. So I asked the Plant Manager why the other guy got to choose what job he wanted.
I was told verbatum "Because he is Young ,and smart, and us old guys have to step out of the way." Of course there weren't any witnesses to the conversation.I was then 44 years old.

Since I have taken the Programmer's position I have changed it into a full Engineering slot and have the added duties of several new types of machines.
And unfolding 3d prints to get flat layouts.
Yet I find out that the other guy has been making between $50.00 to $100.00
a week more than me.
I have not had a raise or review in the whole 6 years!

In fact during the six years I have not been a part of any meetings at all...No Safety Meetings...No production meetings.....Nothing. It seems like I have become Persona Non Grata. I have found a document where another Manager was rating middle management personell and on one persons "faults" column
the only thing written was AGE.

Do I have enough proof to do anything? And if so, what should be my course of action? Is this something for civil court or is there a government agency that deals with this?

I have already lost all stature at my job as well as between $16,000-$30,000
of my livelyhood.....Man thats a house where I live!

It certainly has the markings of age discrimination. You can read more about age discrimination at the following website: www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov). It will also tell you about how to file a complaint.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
