To me it sounds like everyone is negative to the idea of this child
being put up for adoption. For whatever reasons this person has for
putting this child up for adoption is not for us to judge.
- Oh, Lord! Call the Ng Police!
There are reasons unknown to us and honestly it isnt our business. My
suggestion to this person is to contact their local social or childrens
service agency and from there that agency can help.

The way I see it there is more to the story than what is written but
everyone is jumping the gun and criticizing the whole adoption. The way I
look at it is everyone has their own view of the situation but I dont think
it fair to condem someone for putting a child up for adoption.

Maybe not fair to condemn someone for putting a child up for adoption given the fact you are trying to adopt.. But you do not go to a public newsgroup and try to place a child for adoption...
And in my opinion you do not keep the child in you're own home if you are wanting to place that child for adoption. Makes the whole process much harder on the child being placed.....
So I say lets stop the mud sling and move on its obvious this child is going to be place no matter how much we all talk....

That's just it Lori, If your opinion is different then you will be
ganged up on and called names. The reality is that sometimes adoption
is the best option. Like it or not, rant and rave all you want about
how evil adoption is and how it ruins lives, but the bottomline is
adoption is here to stay and always will be. Even though every child
deserves to be loved and cared for and have a family, some aren't and
adoption is the solution whether you like it or not. Maybe you made a

Ummm...bear in mind will you, that this is being read in just about every
English speaking country and elsewhere. Many of us don't have the often
disgustingly lax adoption laws that operate in parts of the USA, where big sums
of money seem to be involved in getting an adoption completed, I've seen
$40,000 quoted here recently. Had the original poster been living in the UK, he
would now be looking at a large fine and/or up to a year of imprisonment for
for illegally advertising a child for adoption. Only government authorised
adoption agencies are allowed to do that here and most of them don't put
children through that indignity.
Adoption can be a good thing but not the way some people do it. It is more or
less enshrined in adoption law here that no one has a *right* to adopt a child,
every child has a *right* a to family, but that doesn't necessarily mean
adoption, more open arrangements such as legally protected "Special
Guardianships" are becoming more popular. Old fashioned closed adoption as
still widely practiced in the US and Canada, is barbaric, it's difficult to
argue otherwise. Nothing to do with anyone pulling **** fits, I spend a lot of
my time dealing with the aftermath of our past closed system. In some countries
we learn from experience in others the crackle of a few crisp greenbacks seem
to makes sure that nothing much ever changes. I know there is lot of supposedly
open adoption in US, but ALL adoption should be open unless the birth family
present a real and tangible risk to the child. Everyone who has ever been
adopted should have a right to their original birth certificate and access to /
copies of their adoption files, any legal system that does not allow that is
simply barbaric and not a part of the civilised modern world.
Anyone who supports a system of adoption where money still decides who can
adopt and where records still remain closed, deserves to be called names and
ganged up on. Anyone who would include DNAmeansZiltch @ getreal.com in their
signature deserves to be called a moronic idiot, more a truthful observation
than name calling.

He would have copped the same treatment here in Australia too. A
pregnant woman was charged here a while back with advertising that her
baby would be available for adoption.

Robin,
The only thing we had to pay was $10.00 during our adoption, that was
for the agency/DSS to get copies of our medical files. We paid nothing
for the adoption itself.

ones, though.

That's good. One person here claims that it would cost her $40,000 perhaps you
can tell her how she could adopt for $10. Those fantastic people who adopt an
older kid from care don't usually end up having to pay very much. But I get the
impression our friend here wants a newborn one so that she can play let's
