Hello, I am from Georgia, I work as a business/technical analyst for a LARGE company that all of you know... I am curious what the Salary Exempt laws are specifically in this state? I am a non supervisor with no employees reporting to me, and my job could be considered almost administrative in its nature (all I do is sit here at my computer and shuffle numbers and report them up the chain). I have worked for this company for almost exactly 1 year now, puting in an average of 60 hrs per week and I do NOT receive overtime since we are classified as Salary Exempt. It just occured to me that if the company is skirting any laws, I would like to know as there are a dozen people on my floor that would significantly benefit from finding that out!

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Despite popular belief it is not necessary to have employees reporting to you in order to qualify as exempt. There are several exempt categories and having direct reports is only a requirement for one of them (the Executive). You can find additional information about overtime exemptions on this link. The appropriate one for you is probably the Administrative.

Good resource, and thanks! Unfortunately, I DO qualify as exempt according to the Administrative qualifications. That STINKS! I would love to go back at my company and tell them they owe me about 15+ hours of overtime per week for the past 50 weeks! That would be LOVELY!

Thanks for your quick response!
