my friend went to a public place today...and some random guy pushed her against the wall and tried to rape her...she got away from him and there are witnesses she is 15 if she wants to talk to the police...what would happen...or could possibily happen

I really can't tell you anything beyond the general--the police will take a detailed report and then investigate it. I'm sure others can provide you with much more specific information about the process. But I’m wondering why the police weren't called when this occurred.

The police will take a report, get a detailed description, and may even have her work with an artist to put together a sketch of the assailant. The police should act professionally and also refer the victim to appropriate victim resources like counseling or followup with the police if more details are later remembered.

From your description it will be hard to convict but thats besides the point. Tell her to file a complaint. Police will take her story and investigate it seriously. If charges can be pressed they will be. At the very least police need to know to protect other people too. They keep records of everything, some other girl might not have been so lucky that night. Some other girl may not be so lucky next week. The police need to know even if nothing comes of it. Nothing negative will come from filing a complaint. Do it.
