My hours are from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. I usually do not get out of there until 9:30 or so. Sometimes 9:15 if I'm lucky. I work in retail. My employer does not pay us for any time after nine. Is that legal?

Could you explain it to be? I could probably find out at work tonight. cbg 08-06-2005, 10:56 AM There's no quick way to explain it. It has to do with your job duties and whether or not you are entitled to overtime under the law. Let's go the long way around. Are you paid on a salaried basis or on an hourly basis? You can read about exempt and non-exempt status at www.dol.gov. Look under the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Fair Pay Act, and Overtime. |
