I'm employed @ a restaurant and they want to be open for the holidays (Christmas & Thanksgiving) I would like to attend church with my family on xmas can my employer legally make me work 10 hours that day? and miss church with my family

Your employer is encouraged to accommodate an employee who requests a specific day off for religious reasons IF your employee has at least 15 employees. You can refer to this website for rmore information on religious discrimination: www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov). However, if the workforce are all of the same religion, etc., it would be difficult to prove that you are being singled out on the basis of your religion.
