I am a new real estate agent and am wondering what my broker can require of me under an independent contractor relationship. More specifically, can my broker schedule mandatory shifts for a certain number of hours per day that I have to be in the office? What laws govern how much control he has over me? How much can he control when and how I do my work as an agent?

Thanks

If you have tobe controlled in movement and time, are you really an independent contractor? Usually, control tests are given and applied to determine employment status. There may be some basic general requirements, but technical requirements beyond that outlined in a contract of some kind, generally are going to be interepreted based on the contract language, de facto work arrangement and the level of control the employer has over you and your work.
