I need some advice. I have been working for my current company almost 3 years now and I have been in my current position for about 1 1/2. My current supervisor daily sends me messages on IM telling me how I should give him sex and that if I were to be his mistress it would make me a dominate person in my group, sends me emails telling me i am beautiful. This has been going on form about 7 months now. When this first started he was not my supervisor but had a senior position within our group. We talked nothing about various items nothing more than I would talk to other about. But then he started making me feel very uncomfortable. Then he got his promotion and I told him again like I had before we were friends and nothing more. I don't get involved with people at work and now that he is my supervisor he should not communicate to me in the manner he is currently. He said yes, i guess your right. So I thought things were ok between us. Well wrong! He took my gestures of friendship the wrong way. I mean like going to lunch, saying hi talking a little bit. He is going thru a divorce and is really upset and I felt bad for him so I tried to listen and be nice. Well it has not worked. Infact it seems he has taken it the wrong way. I have never once told him i was attracted nor wanted any involvment with him. I tried to bring this up to our previous boss but all he wanted to say was well I will talk to him, don't worry. Yea well now all I do is worry. I want to go to our new boss but I am afraid since my supervisor is very knowledgable in one area of our business nothing will be done. And I may lose my job. Any advice would be great.

What you describe is a classical case of sexual harassment - it is against the law. Further, retaliation against anyone making a complaint or participating in an investigation is also illegal.

You can read about discrimination at www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov) or at http://www.state.tn.us/humanrights/
