I have not received my final orders on my child support order in TX. I have been ordered to pay 50% out-of-pocket medical and am wondering how long I have from the time the bill was given to me to pay that I actually have to pay it. Do I have to pay immediately or is there a set amount of time? I don't mind paying my part, but sometimes I receive bills for 1,000 or more  all at once. Please help!!!!

Out of p0ocket medical seems a little high to me. You should make sure that is half of the bill. Also, you should check to see if the child is eligible for health insurance thru you or the mother, or thru some state program. The amount seems high. There are payment plans that you may be able to work out with the healthcare provider, but you also may want to make them aware that you are liable for half of the bill, not all of it.

Bottom line is you apparently aren't avoiding the bills and you are going to pay. Look online to see what your State law says about it and your divorce decree. Mine states 50% of out of pocket but as the EX pointed out it doesn't state when you receive the EOB but it doesn't state when and State law says reasonable amount of time. I guess I could look up definition in my State Law of reasonable amount of time. I may have just helped myself by this reply.(Ms. Law) Sorry for your troubles but if she is dissatisfied with payment of med bills she will have to spend money on an attorney and take you to court which I have already told mine. If she can hold 4 months then she obviously isn't hurting for the money. She doesn't need a turn around the same dat I get the bills plus my company is self insured and I must turn in the billing receipts to get payment to send to her. I have worked out payments directly to medical offices rather than pay the ex but you can still get screwed. She has received refunds
I have a similar issue. The ex holds all the medical bills for three to four months. She always makes sure she sends a pile at Christmas. Upoin receipt of these bills she wants me to cut her a check. I've told her now that I would pay the 50% to her upon receipt of the EOB from the insurance company. Some insurances provide a wellness plan so when the teen goes in for gynecologist visit, the insurance I have automatically pays for 250.00 of it. Plus there are write offs if the doctor visit is in the insurance network. Services provided above and beyond what the insurance company feels is reasonable is not collected and you don't pay. The doctor accepts what the insurance will allow and does not hold you liable for the additional charges.
In other words look at the EOBs. You can't pay from just the receipts. In my case she pays everything upfront for tax write off too is my theory. She sends everthing in bulk and wants a check ASAP. Basically, payment is sent upon receipt of the EOB so I know what insurance is covering.
I live in Mississippi and law states I'm responsible but presently she is running up all kinds of medical bills. ( long story so I want go into why this is happening)
Best of luck,
I've been in this position for three years and it is getting worse so probabaly I'm going to hire an attorney to end it all for it has gottren to be unreasonable.
