I am currently employed as an assistant manager at a movie theatre in the state of Delaware. My typical work week consists of 45-50 hours, one 14 hour day, and I am not salaried. I do not seem to fit into any of the exemption categories and I am just wondering if I am entitled to time and a half for every hour worked past 40. Thanks.

Based on your description, I believe that you are non-exempt, meaning that you are eligible for overtime for all hours worked over 40 in a week.

Slightly off note-
2 years or so ago I was researching overtime law for Maritime positions (ships crew are exempt) and found a number of odd exempt positions out there, including movie reel projectionist.
No clue as to why this would be differentiated, but it simply could be the influance of a politician with financial interests in public theaters.

After a bit of searching, I found that all employees of movie theatres in Delaware are exempt from the laws concerning overtime. It would still be interesting as to why there is a specific exemption for theatre workers though.

You are right...I am surprised because I never knew that. However, keep in mind that they are not protected against other aspects of the law, such as with youth employment. I don't know your age. However, take a look at the following: http://www.dol.gov/esa/media/press/whd/chcine.htm
