Im staying in Virginia on H-4 visa from the past one year. My 48yrs old
mother is planning to visit me . But she is a widow and i being the only
child, she has no social ties in India. Will she find it difficult to
obtain a visitor's visa? She is a tax paying citizen with her own
apartment and runs coaching classes. Plz reply and suggest some other
proofs of return she can show at the visa office.

Hi Shruti
Ofcourse, it will be a problem if she has no social ties in India.
Maybe she can show ties to some NGOs in India just to demostrate she
would definately go back to India and work for it/them.
Maybe an employment guarantee and some property document (real estate or
something) can help.
That is what I think, but we have some Gurus out here in this forum who
can surely help you better.

It may be difficult, but there is really no reason to fret. Simply do your
best showing that she has reasons to return. Owning her own appartment and
having a solid long-term job should be good reasons. Be aware of the
possibility that she may be denied - but also keep in mind that if she
doesn't try, she won't have a visa anyway. So applying for a visa can only
help, not hurt.
