As a well-paid, mid-manager, “exempt” employee, I consistently work 50-65 hours per week. As an “Exempt” employee, I do not expect additional compensation for overtime. One of my benefits includes 6 days per year of “personal time” to be used for time out of the office.
Needing to take 4 hours off work for medical reasons, our company policy requires that I submit an application for this ½ day, resulting in a deduction from my “personal time” allotment. As I will work more than 40-hours during the same week, does my employer indeed have the right to deduct a ½ day from my accumulated “personal time?”
