I live in Kansas and was wondering if anyone could tell me. I am due to take maternity leave in Feb 2006 and according to my employer I have to use all of my sicktime, vacation time and floating holiday time before my short term disability kicks in. I have been ther for over a year. To me this doesnt sound right to make a new mom use all of her sick time in the first of the year and then go the rest with a new baby and no sick time to cover her if that baby gets sick anytime in the remainder of the year. I thought you could take unpaid leave? And also in our handbook it states that you must use all of your PTO with the exception of 40hours. Please if anyone could help!! :)

Your employer can require you to use you accrued time off as long as it is not singling our pregnant women (compared to other persons).
