To be honest, you should do all you can to avoid court because the support amount will likely go way up if you go to court and the court sets support. You would have 2 cases since there are 2 mothers. I suggest formalizing the private arrangement by an agreement drawn up by an attorney that provides for monthly support and joint custody with your visitation rights spelled out as to each kid. I suggest that mediation or arbitration clause be in the agreement to resolve disputes. I also suggest that the private agreement provide that you pay extra one-time payments each year for things like school supplies/ back to school, Thanksgiving-Christmas season, health and medical costs, summer costs like daycare or day camps, etc... If you are not providing or placing the children on your health insurance at Verizon, which you should do if they are not covered by health insurance, you should provide money to pay for health insurance. I suggest doing it right and being fair so you stay our of court, then if you do wind up there the court will not be able to say you took advantage.
