 My company has recently made it a practice to give anyone and everyone who gets into an accident a letter, i.e. written up. Now every body at work is affraid to report the injuries that they might sustain. Is this leagle for the comany to do? I was reading in the Illinois Industrial Comission's Handbook (http://www.state.il.us/agency/iic/handbook.pdf) and in chapter 1, question 7 It states "It is against the law for the employer to harass, discharge, refuse to rehire or in any way discriminate against an employee for exercising his or her rights under the Workers' Compensation or Occupational Diseases Acts." We at my plant believe that we are being harassed by the company for getting hurt. Please, if anyone knows who to contact for this type of harassment, inform me. :(

If it is the employer's policy to give all employees involved in an accident a letter, that is their policy and not harassment. They have reporting requirements to the state and OSHA and to their insurer.
