What are the laws regarding harassment by an employer in the State of Indiana over medical expenses by a covered spouse? Can the employer legally confront an employee about the medical expenses? Can they make statments to others about special employee spousal expenses?

Because it is not clear as to the nature of harassment, I suggest you take a look at the following website for information: www.eeoc.gov (http://www.eeoc.gov). If your spouse's condition may be seen a disability, you should take a close look at the descriptions of the information that the employer can request or not request from an employee.
My brother-in-law works for a company that self-insures. My sister, his wife, had cancer twice. The last time the cancer was located at the base of her brain. She had radiation, and is on the 3 round of chemo. They recently order more radiation treatments. The owner of the company on, now 3 occasions, has confronted my brother-in-law regarding the expense of the treatments and made statements that with the expenses she is running up there will be no benefits for anyone else. He has shown my brother-in-law insurance statments and made comments why they are giving her so many treatments when others did have to have them. The owner has made statements to my brother-in-law about another employee who is also battling cancer. I thought that an employer did not have the right to confront an employee over medical expenses of this natural and certainly not make statements as stated above. Is it not a form of harrassment and an invasion of privacy?

His comments could be seen as a form of harassment (discrimination) on the basis of disability. The Americans with Disabilities Act not only protects those with a disability but also of persons who "because of the individual's family, business, social or other relationship or association with an individual with a disability". Take a look at the following website for more information: http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/ada17.html
