I really don't know where to go or who to talk to about this issue, but I figured here would be a great start! I worked in the mall, and our store seemed to be doing fine or at least that is what they told us. Saturday (9/25), we had a meeting and at the meeting, our manager told us the reason why we had our 1/2 off on everything and suspended the use of gift-cards is because tomorrow ( Sunday 9/26) we will be moving everything out. She also informed us that the owner has known for about 3 weeks and she has known for about 2 and 1/2. My question is, 1. Shouldn't they have given us further notice and 2. We haven’t gotten out pay checks yet, are they suppose to have the paychecks that day or real soon? Please reply with some answers or some way to find out. I just feel that something is not right, because the would have expected us to give them a two weeks notice. Thanks Much! Michael - Birmingham, AL

Unless the store has over 100 employees, there is no law that more notice must be given. Also, Alabama doesn't have a law regarding pay. So, while you are owed for the hours you worked, the amount of time that the employer has to pay you is not specified.
