Can anyone tell me how long the I-130 process was from application to visa
issuance from Eastern Block Countries (ie: Russia, Ukraine, Poland, etc.)?
We are about to start an application and the estimates range from 2 years to
5 years.

Go somewhere else.
I hear Iraq needs a replacement population.

I have a step-daughter in Russia, and we filed the I-130 to bring her here
in August 2002 as the adult daughter over age 21 of a PR. My wife passed her
naturalization test this month, and so we will be writing the BCIS to change
her status to that of a adult daughter of a citizen. She will retain her
date of August 2002. The adult daughter of a citizen is the "First Family
Prefernce." If you go to the April 2005 Visa Bulletin at
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_2150.html
you will find the chart. The column marked "All Chargeability Areas Except
Those Listed" is for Russia. The current date the State Department has visas
for this class is dated March 15, 2001. Since my stepdaughter has a date of
August 2002, that implies we have approximately 17.5 months before a visa is
available. I estimate it will take 4 years and 1 month until a visa is
available.

Gary,

Thanks for the reply. Have your step-daughter ever been here to visit?
Is there anyway that you are aware of to legally speed up the process?

Thanks,

Mark
