I turned in my one month resignation to give enough notice to my boss - find a replacement and train the new replacement. I even spoke to her and asked if a certain date will work since we've been so busy, she agreed that the date I gave her was fine. 2 weeks after, she pulled me aside and said that was my last day and handing me over my final check. Can an employer do such a thing without even telling me? I was told they don't do one month notice on the day of my last day. Please help, I'm really confused.

I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thank you.

As soon as many employees "give their notice," the company will let them go. This is to cut down on distraction and attention paid to the employee is who has chosen to leave the company.

They can let you go at any time once you give notice unless you have a contract stating otherwise or it is based on illegal discrimination.
