I made the mistake of emailing my General Manager to let him know that I would be attending an interview next week. He is on a cruise and I wanted to give him as much of a heads up as possible so he could begin looking for a new employee and because I respected him, I felt it was the right thing to do. He emailed my supervisor and told him that I was to be gone by the time he got back Monday.
1- I should not have told him, my bad.
2- This cant be legal.
3- What recourse do I have, if any?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, it is legal and you do not have any recourse. Since they are involuntarily terminating you, and it is not for reasons of gross misconduct, there is a good possibility that you will be accepted for unemployment.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Keep in mind that you will need to file for unemployment immediately since it is not retroactive - it begins the week in which you file.
I realize you are somewhat in shock over this, and that is understandable, but staying on top of what you need to do will help make the tranistion smoother.
It's really never a good idea to let a supervisor know you are looking for another job unless you have that kind of job security and trust and know for sure it's what they want to hear.
Best wishes.
