Hi,

I've been waiting for my employment-based I485 for 2.5 years. If I am
lucky, I should be getting my permanent residence in the near future.

I've been married for over 2 years. My wife is eligible to apply for
citizenship in September. She will be getting her citizenship in early next
year.

Under these circumstances, how many years do I have to wait before I can
apply citizenship? Is it going to be five years based on my employment or
three years based on my marriage to a US citizen.

Thanks,
sp

3 years if married to a US citizen, and the spouse has been a US citizen
for the 3 years.

Also, for employment based - it is 5 years since your I-485 was
adjudicated, not (unfortunately) since you filed it.

The 3 years also count from I-485 approval.
